Born in Dayton, Ohio to a non-musical family, Linus Lau was trained in composition by Lynn Shurtleff and Henry Mollicone.
His unique blend of smart orchestration and musical personality has landed him much work in the comedy and horror genres despite his true background as a trumpet-toting band geek who bears scars from an accidental viewing of Salem's Lot at age six.
With a penchant towards the atmospheric and tuneful, he divides his time between composing big melodies and authoring college textbooks. Chances are you won't leave the movie theatre humming the atonal counterpoint that accompanies his film trailer work; nonetheless if you've been to the movies regularly in the last few years, you've heard his music.
His client list includes 20th Century Fox, Valve Entertainment, and Columbia Pictures.
